Our story began in 2014 when I went to work for a lady named Constance Spell. She owned a small shop called The Gigglin Pig in downtown Dunn, NC. It was a fabric shop mainly but she also had amish furniture and homemade soap. In the back of the shop she had 3 ladies making dog harnesses, leashes, and collars. On the weekends her and her husband would travel the east coast selling dog products called Sophie's Choice at the craft shows. I had worked in my younger years in a sewing factory and she was looking someone that could work from home making her products. Since I had just retired it seemed the perfect job to make some extra income. So that is when the journey began. She taught me how to cut ,sew, size and assemble the dog products to keep up with the demand of her shows and website. Eventually I taught my husband how to sew to help me keep up with the orders. To my surprise he caught on very quickly. He did a fantastic job on the strips and without his help it would take a lot longer to make the harnesses. He would sew the fabric on the webbing and cut and size the strips for the harnesses. Then I would assemble the strips to complete the harness. If the order called for a ruffle then I would make it and attach to the harness. Eventually we turned one of our bedrooms into a sewing room that held 2 sewing machines, an overlock machine, many bolts of fabric and a wall full of premade harnesses, leashes and collars. I had been working for Constance for 6 years when " Covid" hit. All of her shows were canceled and she had to temporarily close the shop. The world was at a standstill. All businesses were closed temporarily. Everyone was having to wear a mask to keep from spreading the virus but people were still dying daily. This went on for months but she continued to let me work from home to make the website orders and build up her supply for shows whenever they would continue. In 2021 things began to get back to a semi normal and she was able to do shows again but still having to wear a mask. Then in 2022 Constance was exposed to covid and had to be hospitalized. Within a few weeks she died from complications of the disease. For the next year her husband ran the business and we worked for him, Then in 2024 we decided to go into business for ourselves. We bought all the dog supplies from her husband and that is when Love and Leashes Petwear was created. I owe all of this to Constance for hiring me and taking the time to show me how to make the products. If it had not been for her none of this would have been possible,
